yesterday started off a little hazy. jon and i celebrated valentine's day early with a dinner out and a honky tonk concert {wade bowen @ wild west}. we didn't get home until midnight and hadley woke up promptly at 7 am.
we hustled to get ready. we had a few errands to run and a highchair delivery to make before heading to keeley and emery's house for an outdoor valentines-themed playdate.
the weather was so beautiful and so warm.
emery's fort was a dream come true.
sweet lilly's mother dressed her appropriately for the 80 degree day.
poor hadley's mother did not.
{not pictured: hadley topless by the end of the playdate. hill-billy status}.
we took a million trips inside for snacks and to escape the heat.
nova and robin killing it in their matching tops and leggings.
right before we headed out hadley took a little spill off this ledge.
she cried for about 30 seconds exposing her newly cut teeth for all her friends to see. little lady has some seriously large molars. i wasn't too concerned. she caught herself with her hands and moved on from her drama pretty quickly.
we headed home, made lunch and waited for my parents and aunt to come by for quick visit. while we were playing in her room, i saw hadley lose her balance and trip over her lovey. from that moment on, she refused to walk on her left foot.
i showed my parents when they arrived and even forced her to take a couple steps. she squealed in pain and we knew she needed skip her nap and to go see the doc. my dad and i loaded her up and headed to see dr. fran.
dr. fran is the prettiest and sweetest pediatrician ever, but hadley remembered getting her 15-month shots as soon as we arrived so she cried and wiggled and sweated the entire time. In turn, i cried and wiggled and sweated the entire time. we were immediately sent over to get x-rays as the doc suspected a "toddler fracture"...which can easily happen if a kid falls at jusssssttttt the right angle.
my dad offered to take hadley into the x-ray room and hold her down for me. i accepted. i think they formed a bond in there because hadley was attached her granddad's hip for the rest of day. while we were waiting for the x-ray results a strange rash popped up on the same foot.
we backtracked to the doctor's office to show her the new development. no fracture turned up on the x-ray and none of the pediatricians could figure out what was causing the rash. they sent us home with some steroid cream and instructions to come back on monday if the symptoms don't calm down. a mystery.
we went home and let hadley watch frozen 2-3 times. she was exhausted and just wanted to cuddle.
yes, she wore a fancy floral dress to the doctor's office. i have purchased zero spring play clothes...so there you have it. feeling fancy for dr. fran.
our whole family slept 12 hours last night. we all woke up in a fantastic mood. hadley is still crawling, instead of walking, most of the time. she will walk though if she really wants to get something or get somewhere.
progress!
Awww, poor little girlie! I can't believe it but it totally couldn't have been worse. I love how sweet Hadley is and I'm sure grandpa enjoyed the extra cuddles.
ReplyDeleteGrandad was THRILLED to be Hadley's "favorite" ;).
